The Philippine e-Sports Organization (PeSO) will be holding the first Philippine Qualifier at SM Cebu this August 25-26. This is not the start, but rather it’s the sign of a continuously growing Filipino e-Sports community.

PeSO, whose aim is to advance the Filipino gaming scene, will hold qualifiers for 3 different events, namely Tekken 6, Starcraft 2, and A.V.A. The latter 2 titles would also hold special Women-only contests to determine who will earn slots in the Women’s Invitational @ the IeSF World Championship for these said games. Aside from that, PeSO will hold Side events comprising of the following: DotA competition, Cosplay Contest, Rig Competition and Photo-Shooting Contest.

Those advancing from this qualifier would face off against the winners of the other upcoming national qualifiers to determine who will be representing the country on the 2012 IeSF World Championships, which has at least a KRW 25,000,000 ($22,000) total prize pool. The event would be held at Cheon-an, Korea this coming Oct 4-8, 2012, where participants would have their Boarding and lodging expenses covered.

The IeSF was founded back 2008, where eight nations united to try ensure that eSports would be treated as any other sport.
