Blacklist International look to sneak their way into the MPL PH playoffs

MPL PH Season 13 is about to enter its final week of Regular Season action, and for Blacklist International, this could be the end of the road.

Blacklist International was once an unstoppable juggernaut in both the Mobile Legends Professional League, and in the M-Series, but a lot has changed since then. Although the team is still one of the best, something seems to be missing – or the competition has become a lot fiercer. MPL Philippines Season 13 has seen seven weeks of intense Regular Season action, but with the final week arriving, Blacklist needs to scrape by into playoffs with a few wins.

A short time ago, we caught up with the team and asked them a few questions about their current MPL campaign, their trials, and their challenges.

This has been a very rough Regular Season for Blacklist so far. What has made it difficult so far?

I think it is because the team have had to go back to square one. Position 5 is a main factor in the team, and has to adjust to the entire lineup of the game. With Hadji moving from position 4 to 5, it has made it rough – but we cannot blame him, as he needs time to gain the relevant experience. But you can already see that it is getting far better.

Vexana has become a hotly-contested pick this season. What is it that has made the hero find its way back into the meta?

Vexana has a lot of good skills and a lot of crowd control. Her laning is very strong in mid due to her passive and she fits the position 5 meta nicely with pick-offs and good follow-up.

Do you still feel as though you can make it through to MSC 2024, or do you feel that this season has become more about putting the pieces back together for later in the year?

I guess we have to wait and see. We have a lot to work on during practice and in the MPL, but our main goal is to make it to MSC. We are still striving to improve, and we are not just doing things for next year. I will say that the team’s progress will be fast, as we are gaining momentum in every series.

As it stands in MPL PH Season 13, Blacklist and Omega Esports are the final two teams remaining with important series this coming week. While the rest of the teams have either secured passage to the playoffs or have been eliminated, Blacklist will need to focus and make it through a tough final week. With ECHO and RSG Philippines as their final two hurdles, the M3 champions will be looking to scrape through and make their stand in the playoffs.
