The quartet will now be flying to Gamescom next month to compete for three of the spots at the WCA 2015 main event.
Picked from the top of the Europe rankings, sixteen players were invited to the WCA Europe qualifiers, the preliminary round for what’s shaping up to be one of the biggest Hearthstone tournaments of the year. The successor of the $190,000 2014 event has been hosting qualifiers for some time now and it’s almost done with sifting the best among the pros.
The Chinese players had it the hardest. 32 were selected and split into eight groups and after a long marathon of games, Nightwalk, Lovelychook, Season and Blue secured their spots into the main event. In the Americas qualifier, Team Archon ruled supreme, lead by Zalae and their captain Amaz. World champion Firebat came third, just barely missing to grab a seed.
Europe’s three “pro” representatives will be decided on Gamescom soil, between the four who survived the online round. Those include DreamHack champions StanCifka, Kolento and ThijsNL as well as another Nihilum powerhouse in Lifecoach.
