LCK: Samsung Stay top of The Table

Samsung Galaxy remain top dog in the LCK with a 6-1 record.

Another 2-0 victory for Samsung Galaxy keeps them chugging along at the top of the LCK table. A comfortable win over BBQ Olivers saw Samsung win game one in 32 minutes with a 10,000 gold lead. Game two was even more one-sided, as they racked up a similar gold lead in less than half an hour. Another MVP performance from Cuvee also sees him top the individual tables for MVP points, tied with Longzhu’s Bdd. Cuvee didn’t do it all by himself, of course, Ambition’s Kha’zix was just as impressive with a 4/0/4 scoreline for game two.

Afreeca Freecs continued their trend of winning game one in a series, but struggled in game two. Down a ton of kills, better lane assignment and creep score kept them barely in the contest until a two-for-one skirmish in the mid lane almost evened things up. Then, when Spirit stole baron, Afreeca took the biggest lead of the game. From there, it all fell apart for MVP who dropped to a 1-6 record.

Samsung’s fellow-table toppers, SK Telecom also picked up another 2-0 victory on Monday. Their win over Jin Air Green Wings was just as one-sided as Samsung’s over BBQ, with Faker 9/1/11 over the two matches. His Casiopeia was scarcely involved in game two, doing just enough to win lane but only getting involved in four kills. Game one was all about his 8/1/8 Taliyah, however, and the ease with which SKT were able to slot in their bench-warmers. Both Blank and Untara were given a full series to test their mettle and both acquitted themselves well. Blank’s Lee Sin, in particular, had some slick moves, including a beautiful Insec on Kuro.

Monday’s other game saw Summer Split’s surprise story continue, as Longzhu took their 5th win of the season. Longzhu dominated a struggling Ever8 Winners, who have failed to live up to their name so far. Bdd was deathless in both games, earning himself some much-deserved MVP points. He had plenty of help from him jungler, Cuzz, who went a combined 10/2/10 over the course of the series and played just as big a part in his team’s win. Pray also went deathless in game two and, indeed, it was hard to find fault in anything Longzhu did. The team currently sits 3rd in the table as we approach the halfway point of the season.
