LCK: Saumsung Galaxy Undefeated After Victory Over MVP

Samsung Galaxy remain undefeated after their fourth game in the LCK.

BBQ Olivers and Afreeca Freecs closed out the mid-week LCK action today in a series filled with twists and turns.  Game in particular was quite the epic. The Olivers held a lead for the entire game, but struggled to close out. Even with one nexus turret down, they were unable to finish and even had baron stolen from in front of them. It took almost an hour for them to eventually close out a game which looked like the polar opposite of game one, in which The Freecs had played a perfect game in just over 20 minutes.

In the deciding game three, Tempt locked in the first Azir of the split, but it didn't seem to help. Things started much slower this time around but it was Afreeca who had the best of the opening exchanges. They took a 2-1 kill lead and a 2-1 tower lead by the 20-minute mark. The game accelerated rapidly from there, with Afreeca taking a baron and another pair of kills, grabbing themselves a 7,000 gold lead out of nowhere. The lead grew as turrets fell left and right, and 15 minutes later Afreeca had a 2-1 win.

Earlier in the day, Samsung Galaxy extended their undefeated streak to four games by defeating MVP. Samsung looked like relatively comfortable winners in their 2-0 game and currently top the LCK thanks to their earlier win over SKT. MVP kept game one extremely close and defended against multiple base pushes from Samsung. But they were hanging on by their fingertips and eventually they lost their grip. Game two was similarly close, but turned definitively in Samsung’s favour after they won a fight over the baron. From there it was simply a matter of time before 2-0 flashed on the score board.

SKT themselves got a second win on the board on Wednesday, though an increasingly impressive-looking Longzhu made them work for it. Even with a 12/5/10 Varus in the hands of Bang, it took SKT 55 minutes to close out the final game. Bdd going 12/4/3 on Kassadin might have had something to do with that but it wasn’t quite enough to stave off the MSI champions.

With every team now having played at least three games, undefeated Samsung sit atop the table. SKT are tied for second with three other teams on 2-1 records: Jin Air Green Wings, Longzhu Gaming and KT Rolster. At least one of those teams will break the tie on Saturday, as LZ and Jin Air face each other in tomorrow’s opening game.
