LCS and LCK Schedules Announced: Telecom War in Opening Week

After an incredible Mid Season Invitational, LCS returns to the airwaves this week.

MSI is over, SKT are champions again, and it’s time to settle it for another split of LCS action. Things kick off on Thursday (June 1) in Europe and the following day for North America. LCK gets things underway even sooner, starting this Tuesday morning with MVP and Jin Air Greenwings.

Opening night in Europe sees both runners-up from the Spring split take to The Rift. Group B’s H2K take on Splyce in the first game of the season. H2K beat Splyce two series out of two last split, which was key in H2K finishing 2nd, ahead of Splyce in the standings. Following that we have Fnatic and Misfits facing off in Group A. These teams tied 1-1 across the previous split but Misfits’ disappointing end to the season was finished off by Fnatic hammering them 3-0 in the playoffs. Misfits will surely be looking for revenge as well as a good start to the season.

Friday’s NA LCS games start with Spring runners-up Cloud 9 taking on a Dardoch-fueled CLG. The teams were inseparable last season, with both teams winning a series each, and tying in individual games 3-3. The other game of the opening night sees Immortals face Phoenix 1. Last split, Phoenix dominated their opponents 2-0, not even losing only a single game across two series. Both teams have gone through significant roster changes over the break, however, making it difficult to predict a winner. Immortals losing the player with the most MVPs in Dardoch is a big blow, but Phoenix 1 had their fair share of changes too.

In Korea we begin with last season’s second from bottom team, Jin Air Green Wings taking on MVP. Last season, games between these two teams were close but MVP came out ahead on both occasions. With the same team for Jin Air starting this split, it looks like a cushy opener for MVP. After that, last season’s bronze team KT Rolster takes on mid-table Longzhu. Nothing in the off-seasons suggests that Longzhu can turn around their 2-0 (4-0 in games) form against such strong opposition. It’s not till day two that things get really interesting for LCK fans, with the much-anticipated SKT vs Samsung Galaxy.

The summer split runs through to early August, with the challenger series promotion tournament starting August 11. LCS playoffs begin August 19 and the finals are set for September 2-3
