TL and Doublelift fall flat against C9; P1 demolish FLY (W7D1 Recap)

Team Liquid vs. Cloud 9

It's still too early to tell if Doublelift is Team Liquid's savior or an outmatched hero, but today's series points to the latter. Despite good early pressure, TL were ultimately unable to respond to Cloud 9's masterful macro play. They yielded the gold lead in game 1 after Cloud 9 pulled off a Baron attempt, and never held it in game 2, making for a quick sweep.

The best thing that can be said for Doublelift is that he's better than Youngbin. Having a veteran ADC in the botlane has given TL some stability, but Doublelift's 4/7/9 KDA is a far cry from what TL needed in week 7. Meanwhile, Cloud 9's Jensen had a great showing despite giving up first blood in game 1. He put out excellent performances on Ahri and Ekko and dealt the most damage of anyone on his team.

Phoenix1 vs. FlyQuest

FlyQuest's unique picks have secured them victory before, but today they fell flat against Phoenix1. P1 drafted excellent compositions to counter FLY's Mordekaiser and Shaco picks, driving up the kill count early and grabbing early leads. FLY's unique assets swiftly became liabilities in the face of P1's aggression and they gave up the ghost in two games.

Zig had a fantastic outing today, proving that he's absolutely a threat on toplane carries like Kled and Gangplank and picking up a KDA of 7/1/13. Arrow also had an excellent series, cleaning house on Ezreal and saving P1 from FLY's early Baron in game 2 by picking up a triple kill in the wake of the objective falling.
