Pick/ban format changes coming to the 2017 season
The pick/ban format of professional League of Legends will be changing for the 2017 season.
In a news post published earlier today, Riot announced their new changes to the format. There will now be five bans per team, for a total of ten, and bans will no longer be conducted all at the start of the draft.
The start of the new format is conducted in the same way as before. Teams will each ban three champions and proceed to pick as normal. However, once each team has drafted three champions, a second round of banning will occur during which each team will be able to choose two additional champions to ban. After this, the draft will be completed as normal.
Riot have stated that they are currently looking into the feasibility of adding the new format to Solo Queue games as well.
