FORG1VEN and Hybrid headed to Origen

Origen make up for the loss of their stud bot lane with two proven additions.

Already in a down year of regular season performance, Origen took a huge blow with the loss of their all-star bot-lane combo Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen and Alfonso "Mithy" Rodriguez to EU League Championship Series Spring champions G2 Esports.

Today, that blow was softened quite a bit.

The team announced Wednesday that Konstantinos "FORG1VENGRE" Tzortziou and Glenn "Hybrid" Doornenbal were slated to replace Zven and Mithy. Hybrid, the former G2 support, comes off of an impressive rookie split where he led the EULCS in KDA, ranking just ahead of second-place FORG1VEN, who arrives from H2k Gaming amidst a complicated situation surrounding his military service deferment. It is unclear how long FORG1VEN will be available before his deferment runs out and he must return to serve in the Hellenic army. Details will likely be made clear shortly.

These acquisitions are a big boon in the short term for Origen, a team who was left scrambling for answers after the departure of Zven and Mithy. It's quite surprising to see such a marquee acquisition happen in such a short span of time, but this is the best option on paper that Origen could have asked for. This lane combo matches FORG1VEN's experience and mechanical talent with a young, aggressive support in Hybrid who is bound to take the LCS by storm quite soon.

What is yet to be determined is how the new duo will fit in with the rest of the team. There already seems to be a bit of discontent within the Origen house, as Maurice "Amazing" Stückenschneider made his feelings about Zven and Mithy's departure clear during a short Twitter rant.

While he did go on to say that he was proud for the time they did have and the success they created, it may be interesting to see how the new roster gels going forward in the absence of two of the original members of the team.
