One of the largest, best-funded eSports organisations in the world has purchased Renegades' LCS spot.
One of the two open spots in the North American League Championship Series has been secured by LoL newcomer, Team EnVyUs. The eSports organisation (which has more teams in more eSports than any other) purchased LA Renegades' LCS spot for somewhere in the region of $1 million, Daily Dot reported.
EnVyUs is arguably one of the most successful eSports brands in the world, competing in Halo, Gears of War, Overwatch, Counter Strike, Call of Duty, StarCraft and Smite. Not only does the team have more eSports rosters than anyone else, but it’s also one of the best-funded. With the backing of a major finance company, SierraMaya360, it was only a matter of time before it expanded into League.

A training facility planned in Charlotte, NC hit the local newspapers earlier this month and it seems like the new League of Legends team will occupy this space. The team reportedly confirmed it had already made plans to move into the LCS, emhpasizing that it was not move to capitalise on the unexpected banning of Renegades.
At this time, there’s no news on who the lineup might include, especially interesting considering many high profile roster changes from the 2016 Spring Split have already happened, such as a top-tier ADC getting picked up by ROCCAT and the recently cofirmed Cloud 9 team.
It seems like a good spot to be in. EnVyUs has a fresh round of funding from major investors, the opportunity to carefully analyse the LCS 2016 Summer Split from start to finish, and plenty of cash to pay support staff. In the end, they'll be making a team from scratch with a bank account poised for top-tier player aquisitions.
And that raises the question: could Team EnVyUs hit the Rift running and quickly become a dominant force in the NALCS?
