Digni-tossed: Dignitas vs. Immortals

Team Dignitas may have put in the final nail in their proverbial coffin after this game. After 40 minutes of dominance, DIG manages a full on throw of their victory against the dominant Immortals.

Things get worse and worse for Dignitas fans. After bringing in an almost completely new roster for Season 6 of the North American League Championship Series, this former prestigious team has lost the luster that previously made them great. They currently stand at an all time low of 9th place, hosting a score of 4-12 after Week 8 of the LCS Spring Split. This week saw DIG throw not one, but two victories. Arguably the most embarrassing of the two was DIG’s defeat against Immortals, the NA LCS’ 1st place team. This defeat may just be what finally sends Dignitas down into relegations.

DIG started off the game strongly; they made several precise rotations that allowed the players, most notably jungler Thomas “Kirei” Yuen, to gain an early advantage. DIG was able to transition this lead into a majority of IMT’s outer turrets, keeping NA’s best from coming back. DIG did not even see their first death until roughly 27 minutes in when Support Alan “KiWiKiD” Nguyen was caught out in a teamfight. DIG continued to pressure IMT by acing them in several teamfights, even breaking the Dignitas curse by successfully calling a Baron fight and securing the buff after finishing off IMT.

This is where things should have been all said and done. DIG had a 10K gold lead, two of IMT’s inhibitors destroyed, and mid laner Danny “Shiphtur” Le was 9/0/3 on Corki. What DIG had not planned for was Immortals attack damage carry Jason “WildTurtle” Tran’s late game scaling on Sivir. At nearly 40 minutes in, IMT struck back hard by annihilating DIG in a hectic teamfight. Things snowballed downward from there. IMT continued to trample over their opponents, allowing them to secure Baron and come to push DIG’s base for the finish.

Season 6 has seen a lot of ups and downs, and Team Dignitas have seen one of the biggest downs in their team’s history. With only one week left of the NA LCS, it is unlikely that DIG will be able to avoid relegations. Can DIG fight through and manage to keep their LCS status? Share your thoughts below and tell us what you think caused this team to DIG their own graves.
