Visa issues affect longtime EU LCS veterans

With Week 3 of the EU LCS Spring Split underway, two teams are hit by visa issues, causing them to reconfigure their starting roster.

The term “professional gamer” is questionable whether or not it can be considered as being an athlete as well. Because of this dilemma, it causes two longtime LCS veterans to be temporarily suspended from playing in the EU region.

Diamondprox

Just as Unicorns of Love was having a good start to the 2016 EU LCS Spring Split, they were hit with the news that their starting Jungler, Danil “Diamondprox” Reshetnikov, was no longer eligible to play due to visa issues. Being a professional gamer is hard to define when it comes to applying for a long time visa, especially in Germany. For the time being, challenger team Millenium allowed UOL to borrow their jungler Charlie "Djoko" Guillard for Week 3. It is said that they will be working on a long term solution and will announce it once everything is settled.

Edward

Along with UOL, ROCCAT was affected by visa issues as well. Their starting Support Edward “Edward” Abgaryan is not eligible to play as well, with the same reasons given to Diamondprox. While they search for a long term solution, they will be replacing Edward with substitute player Vytautas “Extinkt” Melinauskas.

Conclusion:

Until Riot and their respected teams figure out this dilemma, both Diamondprox and Edward cannot compete with their teams. It's very unfortunate, considering that they have been playing professional League of Legends for several years now, only to be stripped away from this privilege unexpectedly. Hopefully we will see these two players again in the professional scene.
