Here’s some insight for one of the most anticipated games this week for NA.

For Week Two of the North American League Championship, the most anticipated game would have to be NRG eSports vs Immortals and here’s why:

How They Formed

Both NRG eSports and Immortals are similar in the sense that their owners both bought their spots from previous LCS teams. NRG purchased Team Coast’s old spot and only one player from the original CST line up remains on the current roster – Kevin “KonKwon” Kwon. The rest of the team’s lineup consists of players from previous teams.

Top: Eon-Yeong “Impact” Jeong (formerly from Team Impulse)
Jungler: Galen “Moon” Holgate (formerly from Team Imagine)
Mid: ChangSeok “GBM” Lee (formerly from Jin Air Greenwings)
ADC: Johnny “Altec” Ru (formerly from Gravity Gaming)
Support: Kevin “KonKwon” Kwon

On the other hand, Immortals had purchased Team 8’s old spot. The only remaining member from the Team 8 lineup is JunHyeok “Dodo8” Gang, who moved from Support to team manager. Just like NRG, IMT’s lineup consists of players who are familiar with the professional scene. With a mixture of both NA and EU, here is their lineup:

Top: SeungHun “Huni” Heo (formerly from Fnatic)
Jungler: EuiJin “Reignover” Kim (formerly from Fnatic)
Mid: Eugene “Pobelter” Park (formerly from Counter Logic Gaming)
ADC: Jason “WildTurtle” Tran (formerly from Team SoloMid)
Support: Adrian “Adrian” Ma (formerly from Team Impulse)

Battle of the Top Laners

Both teams’ Top Laners are known to carry when they were on their previous teams. Impact, being a previous World Champion, is named Impact for a reason. His presence in the top lane alone creates pressure for the enemy team. He’s able to carry his on weight on the team plus more. It was especially acknowledged when he was not able to play on Day One of the NA LCS. Although the team won, they surely had to work for it and Team Dignitas’ mistakes helped NRG clutch their first win as well.

Huni was seen more of a top lane carry when he was part of Fnatic. There, his plays were pivotal and he was one of the main reasons for FNC’s Summer Split score of 18-0. With IMT, his other teammates seemed to carry more than him, but that doesn’t mean that will be the trend for future games. There’s still a lot of time for the top lane carry to prove to everyone why people chant his name during games.

Conclusion

With both teams being on the top of the leader board, it makes this game more interesting than others. If both teams win their matches before facing against each other, it will definitely be the battle for first place. Hopefully IMT will keep GBM out of the baron pit so he doesn’t steal two barons like he did against DIG. Who do you think will win?
