Heart retires from professional play, steps in as Head Coach of LGD

The seasoned Korean Support player steps away from the Rift and steps into the shoes of Head Coach for LGD Gaming.

Announcing his retirement from professional play, the future was unclear for Lee "Heart" Gwan-hyung. Having ended the last season on the relegated LPL team Unlimited Potential, it came as a bit of a letdown that one of the top Support players in the world during Season 4 would end his career on such a sour note. However, LGD Gaming has officially appointed Heart as their new Head Coach.

With Heart, the team will hope that Heart can corral the players in a cohesive unit once more. This move does come off the heels of the controversial departure of the team's previous Head Coach, Xiao "Chris" Qiang, before the 2015 World Tournament. Since then, the squad has looked off-sync with each other, especially on the international stage.

Now that LGD has a Korean Head Coach, it will be of great import to see if Heart can finally bring the team back to the dominance and high level of play it showed during the Summer Split of Season 5, especially considering the rumors of the addition of Top Laner Jang "MaRin" Gyeong-Hwan and the fact that both AD Carry Gu "imp" Seung-bin and Top Laner Choi "Acorn" Cheon-ju chose to stay with the team.
