TSM acquires Doublelift as starting ADC

TSM has announced that their ADC tryouts have been completed and that Yiliang(Peter) "Doublelift" Peng is their new starting ADC.

On the same day that the 2015 League of Legends World Championship was decided, Team SoloMid has announced that Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng will be their starting ADC for the 2016 season.

Doublelift leaves the Counter Logic Gaming organization after four years of service and immediately following their best season of date. CLG won the 2015 NA Summer LCS split and attended worlds marking their most successful season to date. Their performance at worlds was lackluster and the organization almost immediately relieved Eugene “Pobelter” Park of his starting mid laner duties. They removed Doublelift from their organization shortly thereafter, opening up the opportunity for him to join fellow NA team and former rivals, TSM, mere hours after their decision. CLG has thanked Doublelift for his service in a news post and owner George “HotshotGG” Georgallidis stated that he “was a big part of CLG’s legacy” and that he wishes him the best of luck in the future.

TSM announced the news in a funny yet poorly-acted YouTube video which further ignited the rivalry between the two teams. Doublelift joins the team as only the second confirmed member for next season along Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg. He serves as the replacement for Jason “WildTurtle” Tran. WildTurtle will, apparently, remain with the organization as a substitute for the time being. The acquisition of Doublelift is the beginning of a massive rebuilding process for TSM, as they are replacing four members of their starting lineup and their head coach. Doublelift is considered to be one of, if not the most, talented ADCs in North America and TSM will hope he retains that title as part of their team.

TSM acknowledged their pickup in a rather impressive statement, saying,

“His reputation as a consistently motivated and hardworking player, in addition to his status as a North American have led us to believe that Doublelift was the best choice for the position over a large number of talented applicants.”

Doublelift himself has stated,

“Joining TSM will be a new chapter in my life, one that I am both excited and proud to be a part of. I hope to prove myself and earn the welcome of TSM fans worldwide. I am determined to use this fresh start to break through my current limits and dominate the competition harder than ever.”

This self-confidence is something great to hear for TSM fans who have watched former ADC Wildturtle regress over recent splits.

The history and solidity Doublelift offers the organization, especially as a NA resident, gives the rebuild a promising start for TSM. Doublelift allows TSM more flexibility in filling their last three roster spots before IEM San Jose, where they will be competing against teams from around the world.
