(Read in Call me maybe tune) - Hey, Deft's in trouble. We've got to save him. We have Shen in our team, so ult him maybe.

Demacia Cup

The 2015 Demacia Cup Summer Season featured twenty-eight teams of the Chinese LoL scene. Twelve from the LPL and sixteen from the LSPL (the second LoL league in China). There were many highlights and incidents during the tournament. For example, Mata was hospitalized, leaving Vici Gaming to forfeit during the quarter finals. However, the biggest highlight of them all was EDG’s sweeping victory over OMG during the finals.

Game 3

EDG vs OMG

EDG’s core consists of two spectacular Korean carries, Wonseok "Pawn" Heo and Hyukkyu "Deft" Kim. However, the remaining cast, Shek "AmazingJ" Weiho, Ming "Clearlove" Kai, and Tian "Meiko" Ye, were just as spectacular with their defensive initiations they have come to enjoy using against the overly aggressive OMG.

OMG’s Zhang "North" Yuze proved that he was no doubt a formidable force during the semi-finals against Snake. In fact, North showed us that he can play in OMG’s system as a sweeper, taking what the opponent gives. Unfortunately, Pawn and Deft gave nothing but slaughter with their team’s seemingly flawless synergy.

Throughout the series, OMG obviously wanted Pawn to be behind Cool in terms of gold and experience. It seemed to be their downfall. Pawn is a first-class player who is decent against all-in dives. In addition, his team backs him up exceptionally quickly. Whenever Cool and Loveling succeed at assasinating Pawn, the rest of EDG responds by taking at least two of OMG members to settle their own scores.

Excepting Pawn and Deft’s presence, AmazingJ, Meiko, and Clearlove have been amazing in the finals. The consistent Shen picks from EDG definitely took a bite off of OMG. EDG’s AmazingJ had a persevering presence throughout all three games, giving both the leverage to deliver early kills and protection to provide safety for the carries. Clearlove’s Gragas play in the first match was exceptionally good. His ultimates’ placements created the opportunities for Deft (Vayne) to snack on the scattered OMG. Clearlove’s Rek’Sai plays in both game two and three were beautifully played with spot on knock-ups followed by Shen ultimates and taunts.

My MVP

Although Pawn has played marvelously, I have to announce that Meiko was my MVP of the series. He has played Braum, Thresh, and Janna respectively. He played Braum perfectly as he blocked so many Sivir’s abilities with his shield. He played Thresh with wit as he caught individual champions with his hooks. He played great defensive plays during team fights with his critical shields and ultimates that kept his carries in fights. No one could ask for a better performance than what Meiko had pulled off that night.

Concluding Thoughts

In conclusion, EDG proved that they are a world class threat in the esports scene of League of Legends. Their unbelievable team synergy and outplays were a real treat to watch. OMG does, in fact, have an identity as the aggressive team, but they must find the versatility to play around their own style. OMG’s repetitive over aggression cost them many objectives, gold, and ultimately games. We hope to see OMG’s growth as a team and EDG’s consistent dominance in the Rift.
