Misfits rebrands, Montecristo brought on board

Rising Challenger squad Misfits rebrand as Renegades, and bring in Christopher “Montecristo” Mykles as new co-owner.

Formed by Alexey “Alex Ich” Ichetovkin and Alberto “Crumbzz” Rengifo, along with owner Chris “Doombang” Badawi, Misfits became an instantly popular team in the North American challenger scene. With several former fan favorites leading the way, in addition to a few well known challenger names such as Oleksii “RF Legendary” Kuziuta, Misfits were an instant pick to reach the LCS within a split or two. Now, with the addition of Mykles, a former coach for CLG and current OnGameNet analyst who is known throughout the League of Legends scene for his wealth of insight into the game, Renegades looks poised to strike as early as later this month when the North American Challenger tournament begins.

Renegades owners Mykels and Badawi state that the rebrand is a new identity, perhaps as a growing eSports corporation as the team also picked up the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad Vox Eminor, who will begin competing under the Renegades name immediately.

Renegades now look to sure up their rotating AD Carry position. Current prospect Mohamed “Jebus” Tohki ran into more than a couple of work visa issues, and as such Renegades have relied on substitutes to fill the marksman role to date, most recently using Ainslie “maplestreet” Wyllie, long time stalwart of the scene and younger brother of retired TSM jungler Brian “TheOddOne” Wyllie, in the bottom lane.

Renegades plays their first Challenger Series summer match June 25th against Cloud9 Tempest, and will look to win their way into the 2016 LCS spring split.
