Worlds 2015 qualifier regions announced

The seeding for the 2015 League of Legends World Championship has been announced. While not much has changed, the Southeast Asia region will now be competing within the International Wildcard qualifier rather than within the LMS.

This change gives some lesser names in the Asian League of Legends scene a stronger chance at making it to the Worlds stage, as they now compete with Turkey, Japan, and Oceania rather than the significantly stronger Taiwanese clubs that previously dominated the qualifying region. Likewise, regions like Turkey and Japan will potentially benefit in the longer run by getting more exposure to international gameplay and tactics, while not being exceedingly outgunned by the teams they now can expect to face.

This change was not entirely unexpected, as during the Mid-Season Invitational qualifiers, which allowed Turkish sporting giants Besiktas to send a League of Legends team to Tallahassee, came with an announcement that SEA would be potentially migrating qualifier regions. The IWCI will be awarded 2 invites to Worlds, with one going to the CIS, Brazil, and Latin American IWCI group, playing their qualifier in Chile, and the other going to the Turkey, Japan, Oceania, and now Southeast Asia group, who will battle it out on the Rift in Turkey.

More information will be available from Riot Games as we approach the World Championship shortly after the end of the Summer split.
