GDC 2015 welcomes eSports

Next year's edition of the Game Developer's Conference will feature two new "summits", among which eSports and Community Management. The conference itself is set for the first days of March 2015.

The largest annual congregation of video game professionals opens its doors to competitive gaming for its next edition. eSports - one of the two new summits for the conference - will make its first appearance at the gathering between Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015. Known names like LiveonThree's Rod "Slasher" Breslau and Riot Games's content manager Patrick Miller have in turn been welcomed to the advisory board for the summit.

The eSports summit of GDC will aim, within one day, to cover the hot topics from all of the industry. Solicited are topics such as designing eSports games and tournaments, casting and coaching, catering to a global audience, ethics and economics, gender equality and inclusivity and future trends appraisal. The summit will welcome panelists from various sub-spheres of the scene, including casters, journalists, streamers, event hosts, game developers and, of course, players.

GDC 2015 will also be open for lecture and panel submissions. Between September 8th and October 3rd, eSports speakers can submit their panel, provided they satisfy GDC's criteria. The panel must also fall under one of the solicited topics for the eSports summit.

The entire conference will span over five days, between March 2-6, and will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.
