Yesterday, in primarily a WoW-themed Twitch event, SivHD has mustered the community's effort to raising loads of money for 3rd world countries across the world.
In a joint effort organized by Athene in accordance with SaveTheChildren, Gamingforgood has made history by raising a vast amount of money in a short amount of time, where dependant on the country the money is being sent to, USAID will multiply the amount raised by anywhere from 4x to 16x; in other words, gamers have already raised well over a million in a short amount of time.
SivHD originally set his goal to $50,000, raising it to $77,000 and then finally $100,000. Within the last 3 hours, a second $50,000 was raised, wherein donations started vastly slower than they ended due to the momentum of the stream. Other famous streamers such as Boogie (Known for his Francis persona), Swifty, and Midwinter helped raise incredible amounts as well.
Among the top donations were G2A.com, SG_27, and former CLG support Aphromoo who all donated anywhere from $2,000-10,000 on their own. This day marks the single largest gaming donation event since Operation ShareCraft last year at Dreamhack.
