Raidcall SEA invitational League begins today

For the next six days, some of the best SEA teams will be battling in Raidcall SEA Invitational League for a $1,000 prize pot in an unorthodox format. Joining the South East Asian teams is Traitor which consists of two former fOu players.

After grueling qualifying groupstage, we have finally arrived at the playoffs of Raidcall SEA Invitational League which will be starting in an hour with Invasion taking on Execration. Running parallel with Invasion versus Execration will be the battle between the two Singaporean rivals, First Departure and Insidious Idol.

The league has a slightly unorthodox format as you can observe from the bracket below. The top placers of the groupstage has been seeded in the winner bracket while the second and third placers are placed in the loser bracket. On top of that, Lowyat and MiTH will have to face the loser of the winner bracket semis while Traitor and Orange have to merely face the winner of loser bracket round one.

When we asked the organizers on why they decided on such an unorthodox format, they told us that they would like to give the second placers a slightly bigger advantage in comparison to the third placers, despite both already being in the loser bracket.

Joining the best of South East Asian teams is Traitor who consist of former fOu players, Jae Ho 'Anarchy' Hwangbo and Kyung Min 'Sagun' Lee, and two Indonesian players, Kevin 'kyosh' Tirta and Wilbert 'LaVida' Marco, and Yao Wen 'Tudi' Teo as their sole Singaporean player.

The tournament will be a six days affair employing a best-of-three format in the winner bracket, best-of-one in the loser bracket and followed by a best-of-five grand final. The winner of the tournament will walk away $800 richer while the second placer will win $200.

The livestream of the tournament will be provided by DotaTalkTV.
