GGNL qualifications have been held for Sweden, Denmark and Finland. There is one more qualification for Sweden on its way, and of course we have the Norwegian one left. The latter is actually already this Saturday, the 29th of January.
On Saturday, 18:00 CET the Norwegian qualifications are taking place. The channel for the event is set to be “op GG-Raistlin” at the European Battle.net server. It is double elimination, which means that it is both Winner Bracket and Loser Bracket. In WB it is bo3 with Sonata as first map. LB is bo1 with March all the way. You can download the maps from the link at the bottom of this news.
You have to confirm your participation in the tournament. It is not enough with just signing up. You can sign up anytime you want to (before the start of the tournament), but you will also have to confirm that you will play. You will be able to do so 30 minutes before the start of the tour, 17:30 CET. It is really important, so make sure to do it.
You log in with the username and password you have here on GosuGamers.net in the menu to the right. When entering the Norwegian tournament site you will have some options in the right menu. At first you are supposed to enter your Battle.net nickname, and then simply sign yourself up. When it’s time, a new button will appear in the menu and you can confirm.
Good Luck!
Only seven players were confirmed when the tournament was about to begin. Although, we knew there were more people on their way, but they simply hadn’t been able to make it in time. We delayed it even more, this time starting at 17:30. This time with 11 confirmed players we could start the whole thing.
It went on good, with no major interruptions except for two or so cases where auto wins were given – that wasn’t until later in the tournament though. iG.ArCNeON (Clawson) played himself all the way to the final pretty quickly after losing only one single game. A game verus VdP]krOKkis, where Clawson used his Terran skills, but he got outplayed by the Protoss of krOKkis.
His opponent in the final, ToT)Aqrash( first sent ToT)ovvi( down to the loser brackets then proceeded with a win against 3wD.Vultureh, then lost to Clawson in the WB final, but came back to the grand final by beating sT-iMuukki-.
After only one game the winner was decided. Leading with 1-0 because of coming from Winner Brackets, iG.ArCNeON did no mistake and could beat ToT)Aqrash( in a Protoss vs Terran game on Sonata. It gave him 2-0 in a bo3 match. I was able to get a short interview with the winner after the end of the tournament.
This gave us a top8 looking like this:
1. iG.ArCNeON 2. ToT)Aqrash( 3. sT-iMuukki- 4. 3wD.Vultureh 5. gigant.DwMT 5. kibbOn 7. VdP]krOKkis 7. 2k.Finnish-M4N |
Thank you. :)
What do you think of your way to the number one spot? Was it easier/harder than you expected? Any special game you felt you were having a hard time in?
Well it was a lot easier than I thought. :D Since Lomaxson/Smokealot/Flayer was not there the only one to stop me was Aqrash I think. =) But the only one who won against me even once in the tourney was VdP]krOKkis, TvP (me T) on Sonata. :D He pwned me! :)
What is your opinion on the maps? Are they fair for all races and match ups?
Hm, overall I think they are very well balanced, but in some cases, as with Sonata for example, the spawning spots really mean a fucking big deal. :P First game vs Aqrash, I thought it would be impossible to win because I was in left top and he in right top. Since I couldn’t get many minerals anywhere near, I had to expand in 6 o’clock only mineral expansion. T.T Very hard… :/
And I really think it is imbalanced like that... But so is many other maps, including our dear 2004 WCG maps, Martian Cross, Dahlia. e.t.c. e.t.c. :P
Okay, that’s all, thank you. Once again - congratulations- and good luck in the upcoming GGNL group play and the future! Any shoutout?
