The MBCgame Survivor League is the qualifier for the MSL. If you still don't know how it works, go to my last news about the Survivor League for a closer explanation of the format, results from the last group etc. Anyways, here are the battle reports from todays matches in Group D.

GoodFriend vs Spear at Blitz X

3ca7c475c3d64a1bbd55d4f275fb2946a202525e487cf81daca1645e4eNoimage.gifGoodFriend landed at the left side of the map and started a wall followed by a factory and a starport. Spear warped in on the right side and went with a quick nexus followed by two gates and a core. GoodFriend scouts the front with a vulture and draws a bit of Spears attention while he drops three other vultures in the protoss main. They do little damage, but Spear places his goons in the mineral line and loses a couple more probes to a nearby mine.

With the offensive vultures and dropship Spear puts down a stargate. You would think it would be for a scout or maybe even a corsair, but he also puts down a fleet beacon. GF drops 2 more vultures in the main of Spear and manages to scout it, as well as make the probes run to the natural. He also tried a less successful vulture raid from the front. Terran has taken his natural and put down an armory there to prepare for the carriers. Protoss starts harassing this, but with next to no damage done. GF knows he's far ahead now and moves out. Spear's puny single carrier is practically worthless and GF rolls over Spear. GG

OverSky vs FireBatHero at Blitz X

d0d48bb0368a3d0937b015f00b6bdfe053ea30b069b0d3a8e43e8551d6b4b93cb4c6df60464cb3bf136deded1038542b025ae48f025f724caed3FBH lands at the right side and opens with a barrack, command center, barrack build. OverSky spawns at the left side and opts for a 12hatch at his natural before adding a third aswell. His chosen tech is the spire, followed by a den. There isn't much action early on with all the macroing going on, so OverSky takes the south west main as well as his side of the middle and puts down a queens nest in his main.

Finally FireBatHero moves out, but as he tries to clear out some of the lurkers outside his base, OverSky nicely scourges his single vessel and delays him further. As the second vessel arrives, zerg moves in on the terran force and wins the encounter. He doesn't have enough troops left to continue into the terran natural however. FBH responds with dropping the middle, but there aren't any drones there yet and he does next to no damage. Then he tries to head for the south west expansion and kills quite a bit of zerg troops on his way, but is denied by swarm.

From the firstperson view of OverSky we see some nice scourge dodging displayed by FBH, but he's still far behind so he takes his side of the middle. At this point ultralisks are out though and OverSky even tries to take a hidden expansion at the south east corner. Zerg utilized plague and swarm well in the major skirmishes, while doing some lurkerling harass on the terran middle. When he is happy with the size of his ultraling army, he just attacks the terran natural straight on. FBH tries a drop that fails horribly at the same time in the zerg middle. GG

OverSky vs GoodFriend at Reverse Temple

d0d48bb0368a3d0937b015f00b6bdfe053ea30b069b0d3a8e43e8551d63ca7c475c3d64a1bbd55d4f275fb2946a202525e487cf81daca1645e4eOVerSky spawns at 3 and goes for a 12hatch in his natural. GF lands at 12 and goes with a normal two barrack build. OverSky's lord went the right way immediately, but as he puts down his third hatchery in his natural he missed the scvs and marines heading out for a bunker rush. GoodFriend manages to get the bunker done, but it's too far away and he decides to build a second one right by the zerg mineral line. OverSky puts down his second sunken and defends it. All in all I think GoodFriend came out behind after that.

Shortly after GoodFriend has a nice looking M&M army, but OverSky has been building sunkens and now has four of them. That doesn't scare GF who goes in and takes down one sunken before he is flanked with zerglings from behind and drones from the front. Meanwhile zerg has completed his spire and started a den. The muta harass does little damage, but it keeps terran in his base and allows OverSky to take the main at 6.

GoodFriend moves out and puts his forces outside the zerg natural, but in doing so he keeps so few marines at his base that the muta harass becomes effective. OverSky picks off marines everywhere and even manages to take down the starport. He's also had time to finish a greater spire and start his defiler mound. Terran takes his natural and spots the guardians morphing. He puts down two starports and moves his contain down to handle 6 where zerg has recently started the expo at the natural as well. The natural falls easily, but a nydus at the 6 main allows OverSky to get a defiler in there and put a lurker under swarm. He also sends the guards to clean it up, while he attacks the terran natural with a lurkerling force under swarm. GF has no chance to defend it. GG

Spear vs FireBatHero at Reverse Temple

Noimage.gifb4b93cb4c6df60464cb3bf136deded1038542b025ae48f025f724caed3Spear warped in at 9 and opened with a one gate-core build in his natural. FBH landed at 12 and decided to go with a single factory opening, although it looked like he was considering a proxy factory there for a while. Spear takes the proxy route though. He builds a citadel and two more gateways outside 3. He puts down the templar archieve in his main and it's clear that he's planning on getting some dark templars.

FBH actually gets a scv into the protoss main, but it's last bit of health is taken away by a probe just before it scouts the archieve. Terran moves out with the typical FD force, with some marines, a tank and reinforcing vultures. It is easily deal with my Spear and as the DTs make their way into the terran main it is clear the game is over. FBH is stubborn though and keeps playing until he has four or five scvs left, but there was no way he was going to defend that. GG

Spear vs GoodFriend at Longinus II

Noimage.gif3ca7c475c3d64a1bbd55d4f275fb2946a202525e487cf81daca1645e4eSpear warps in at 3 and opts for a single gate followed by a core and a nexus. GoodFriend on his part opens with a two factory build at 11. There isn't much action in this game, but GoodFriend manages to siege up at the protoss mineral only without too much resistance after having added his third factory. He also manages to sneak some vultures past the protoss forces into the main. I do not know how that happened, as Spear should never have allowed it to. Either way, he sends most of his troops to deal with it and GoodFriend says thank you, I'll just siege up at your natural then. Spear tries to counter, but there are too many tanks and the marines GF didn't waste at the beginning now takes down the shuttle. Spear is completely destroyed. GG.

MBC Survivor League Group D
GoodFriend > Spear Blitz X
OverSky > FireBatHero Blitz X
OverSky > GoodFriend Reverse Temple
Spear > FireBatHero Reverse Temple
Spear < GoodFriend Longinus II

The matches today were largely disappointing. Spear is a few years too early to qualify for a StarLeague. He was sloppy at best and his only win came after a risky proxy build. FireBatHero was way off his game. He's been so on form lately, but today he was distracted or something. The only one who did well today was OverSky really. He got a chance to display his ZvT and it worked nicely in both games. OverSky now only has a single best of three match between him and the next MSL, while GoodFriend will have to win two best of three matchups to qualify.
