S2-Games abusive behavior against player (11802 reads, 21 replies, 8 months ago)
Heroes of Newerth terms of service in nutshell : S2-Games members can do anything what they like in their game, forums and so on

Original case: My brother got lifetime ban to HON forums and HON gameplay two days ago. His account was suspended and he didn't get any information about reason of ban. He contacted customer support and HON Gamemaster. He received answer that his account has been suspended by S2-member but no further information were given. He had no ban appeal about this decision or didn't receive any email about account suspendion.
My brother has never been suspended before during two years. He has had few forum infractions long time ago but they all 've been exprired. We made thread in HON forums about this situation with my account. We received good replies from other players, until original thread was moved to Offtopic discussion and locked. We made another thread about this issue and demanded that he receives reason why he got suspended.
I received replies from forum moderators who had some clue what happened. It seems my brother got banned for posting reply to 'Why Fielding is no longer lead hero designer' thread. My brother had given criticism to one S2-member, who he called 'bad designer' and 'dude who doesn't listen community and can't stand criticism' . It seems that same S2-member got butthurt about that reply and decided to lifetime ban him, suspend from Heroes of Newerth gameplay as well. Shortly after that, that thread was removed by S2-member and I got banned from forums for long time: "Banned for discussion about suspensions"
My brother has played HON since early beta. He has paid full price of his account and bought gold coins as well. He wasn't bad player at all, 1700-1800 rated in matchmaking and used to play few leagues as well. Suddenly his gameplay chances are removed because someone from staff couldn't take criticism and unleashed his rage. Very unprofessional and unacceptable behavior by S2-Games.

Wellcome to real world. If you buy a television from the store and write feedback like 'their shopkeeper is a jerk'. Do they take back television you bought and won't refund your money? Think about it !

According to forum rules, you can't lose your gameplay priviledges by forum posts. Since when S2-Games has cared about their own rules?

No earlier suspensions or punishment. Lifetime punishment for first offence. Unbelievable..

In real world, if you are punished, you always receive the reason. S2-Games, KGB and Stasi haven't ever been responsible for explaining their actions.

In modern world, you can openly discuss if something unjustified or unfair has happened. S2-Games shuts your mouth and won't admit they 've done something wrong. They will also remove the evidence as soon as possible.

I could always borrow my account or buy a subaccount for my brother. He really loved this game and was fanatical community member. But why would I support unprofessional and rude company like S2-Games?

My brother was right, that S2-member is a real dictator

---------------------------------------------------------
Original thread was posted in Gamereplays forums. S2-Games contacted GR-Admin and asked them immediately remove that thread. Too bad it's me internet -> no more censorship and abuse

Implying abusive actions in a video game is anything like what the KGB is a little much.

Also, it is well-known that Diva is a garbage designer. You might as well just state his name outright.

Diva is trash at design.
Diva was a mediocre DotA player (whisperwind) and doesn't know jack shit about balance.
Diva Diva Diva
Diva is a dipshit.
Diva is killing off HoN from the inside with his bad manners against both players and other S2 employees
Diva will be on foodstamps because he will get fired soon.
Diva Diva Diva.
Diva is responsible for Sol's Bulwark and Keeper of the Forest changes, and 2/3 of the hero pool being garbage.

It's all good though, DotA 2 will fix it.

He got banhammer for HON forums and gameplay. He contacted [GR]l3g3ndary and forced him to remove my account and thread from GAMEREPLAY FORUMS as well. That man has some serious mental / anger management problems.

Spook
sadly, hon is getting worse every day
dota 2 was going to hit them hard but it seems they are doing everything they can to drive people away with this kind of behavior and by adding imba heroes every week

Status update. S2-Diva has removed every thread about this issue from HON forums. Also my account from GAMEREPLAYS forums has been banned by [ANONYMOUS]-user, who is propable Diva, hiding his name. This is pathetic. Please share this information, so players will open their eyes and realize what kind of jerk kids are operating S2-Games

I play HoN for it's features. Also, to get good games in DotA you have to know a good group of people or play in leagues, and you have to use 3+ external programs and hope to god you don't crash. In HoN, you just work your way up in ratings and games get progressively better. Dota 2 will be a lot more like HoN than most fanboys are willing to admit or accept.

There are higher authorities, yes.

It's also highly unlikely you could ever reach them. S2 doesn't have a system where you can file abuse from S2 staff. Support answers to the general staff so I'm fairly certain they can't do much about this.

I'm personally inclined to agree here. HoN is a game where tensions can run high, and I'm sure everyone at S2 loves the work they do, and it can be incredibly aggravating and hurtful when people choose to spit on the work you've put so much time and effort in.

However, I fully believe that, as a staff member, you shouldn't allow emotions to overrule logic. You shouldn't ban people from the game because they say something bad about you, that's running into a territory of propaganda and dictatorship that would be a terrible thing to do.

There are, of course, limits to what people should be allowed to say. Being outright destructive in your posts is intentionally being hurtful, and *should* be punished. But, like you said, by their own rules, couldn't be punishable with a game ban.

Your best bet? Confronting the S2 staff member directly, or finding a direct superior (google, forums, whatever) and PM or mail them (if you can find the info) and state your case. Keep it short, keep it civil. Line up the *facts* and ask for an explanation.

I can't promise it will work, but these things are almost always a result of emotions flaring up. Once it's calmed down, there's a good chance they'll see that it was not the right way to deal with this.

I have no idea how you guys managed to initially give credibility to a team that just ripped off another game and decided to sell it for money.
S2 was bad seed to start with.
But then again, the blame is S2's, and not yours, so I hope your bro will get your account back. The post above me suggested the most reasonable course of action.

#10 - I dont see where you´re coming from at all with that remark which seems popular in the DOTA community (and I´ve heard for more than a year now).

It was created to some extent with approval/acknowledgement and so on by IceFrog, so how is it a ripoff?

I think more than anything HON did us all a favor, creating a game out of a MOD and help bring attention to it.

Besides, Valve would not have done a 1 Million dollar event, if they werent trying to shut down the competition from for example S2/HON.

What you guys often time miss, is that in a monopoly there are few winners, but in competition the consumer wins.

DOTA 2 will be a better game because of HON. So be thankful there are people out there who are willing to invest time, energy and money into the stuff we love so that it can really prosper mid-long term.

You might use the old "ctrl-C" chant, but it will get nowhere with me - that was done because its legally OK to do so, if it was not it couldnt have been.

Is it stealing if the owner allowed you to take it?

So let me tell you guys a little story...

There is this secret forum for pro players to discuss the balance of the game. Now, they tend to raise shitstorms because, let's face it, HoN's balance is pretty bad.

H4nn1, who talked BRIEFLY about S2 failing at Gamescom, not only got his gold coins taken away (which he earned for playing at Gamescom) but also got secret forum access revoked along with most big name pros. What is left is the people who rarely post or the few that were on S2's good side. I say this almost every time I discuss HoN, but S2 did not deserve a DotA game.

Here's to Valve, you honestly cannot do worse than S2, not in a million years.

rofl h4nn1 no more 50k gold ... that's just bad staff from S2. i keep playing HoN occasional for fun, but this thing happens less and less cuz of dota 2 and when i try to play something is off with the servers and u can't play and i'm referring to friday/saturday when they "patch" the game and i have more time. Something go wrong every patch and u can't play for couple of hours/days.

#15 I know about the secret forum. The stuff you told about Hanni is really sad. Nothing new about S2-Games. Remember when they kicked WARCHAMP7 out of SBT staff, because he criticized S2-Diva's new heroes?

Isn`t their behaviour contrary to the TOS ? ... i mean isn`t this a bit over the edge? ... i`m sure that there has to be some legal entity capable of drawing their attention ... maybe try a petition .... i dont know but they are so bad mannered and...well,i`ll try to hold back the flames this time.
I started a thread in the HoN Forums in which i asked both the community and the S2 Games staff to re-think the "Verified Account" validation process ... the new F2P system just destroyed the game...so many newcommers who got their accounts "verified" started ruining games everywhere ... people who dont give a shit about their leave ratio just rage quit everytime something doesnt go the way they want to ... i sugested that they should try to make an account verified from at least level 15 ... so us,the idiots who actually bought the game, can play in a safer enviroment...guess what? ... in less than 60 seconds the thread got locked.
For a change...i`d like 5 minutes alone with that Diva dude .... make it 3...3 minutes are enough for what i`d do to that nolife son of a bitch ... but hey, failure in real life makes you behave like a king in the virtual world, right?

Phntm-
HoN is dying from the inside. I won't be surprised if HoN killed itself before the release of Dota2 with their irresponsible staff behavior.
