OpTic confirmed as the fourth invited team for Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2017

The ELEAGUE Season 2 champions have received a direct invite to Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2017.

Intel Extreme Masters: Sydney 2017, taking place from May 3rd to May 7th is set to be the biggest CS:GO tournament held in Australia. The tournament will feature eight teams from all over the world competing for their share of $260,000AUD (~$200,000). The first two days of IEM Sydney will witness group stage action. After a one-day break from Counter-Strike on May 5th, Qudos Bank Arena, an 18.000-capacity arena will host the last two days of the event.

The formatting for the group stage is yet to be revealed but it has been announced that the play-off stage will consist of two best-of-three semi-final matches and a best-of-five grand final. With OpTic's addition, current invited teams for IEM Sydney are SK Gaming, Renegades, Astralis and OpTic Gaming. Three more invites will be handed out and the last team to attend the event will be decided via the qualifiers restricted for teams from Australia and New Zealand.

Enjoying success in Sydney would mean returning to glory days for OpTic, as the North American team failed to impress in the first months of 2017 after finishing 2016 with two prestigious titles: Northern Arena Montreal and ELEAGUE Season 2.

As of today, the team list for Intel Extreme Masters Sydney 2017 looks like:
