Jian Carlo "Fenix" Joan Morayra Alejo celebrates accomplishing one of his goals, and discusses his potential future in Korea

Beating out qxc to win the Intel Extreme Masters American finals, Fenix took home a prize and title of the best player in the Americas. The Peruvian player was interviewed by his team fnatic.MSI, where he talked about the tournament and his plans for the future.

How do you feel winning IEM America and be called the American Champion?

"I felt very proud of myself that I accomplished one of my goals. I'm very honored to be called the best player in America but I still feel that I have a lot to learn and have more goals to accomplish."

Fenix played many difficult opponents on his way to the finals and his title, however that doesn't mean the road there was easy. Fenix explained some of the reasons why he thinks he was so successful during the interview as well.

You displayed a super aggressive style of play, many players could not handle your game style - what did you focus on in practice before going to IEM?

"I am an ex-SC:BW player and I know the game and I can play very comfortably in what is called the late game and I feel thats an advantage that I have over my opponents. But I practiced VERY hard on my matchups for IEM."

In the finals you were playing against QXC - did you feel confident? Or did you expect HuK to play against you?

"I never felt confident with any opponent. I was expecting a finals vs HuK because of his recent results and he is a very aggressive player but what surprised me more was the intensity of qxc's aggressiveness."

Whom do you think was the hardest opponent at IEM America for you?

"I have to say that it was DREWBIE he put me in very tight spots in all of our matches. I played him in several tournaments before the event like the pegasus cup in the finals. He played very good and he almost cost me my victory."

The tournament victor also discussed what he had planned for the future.

Many players are thinking of going to Korea - do you think you're ready for that challenge?

"Of course I would love to compete in a event like the GSL to face great oponenents and to win the event. That is actually one of my goals that I have set for myself, so that would make me happy to attend and to win it if I can."
