Fnatic.HoN switches to Dota 2

The Fnatic HoN team has decided to make the switch to Dota 2. They leave the HoN scene as one of the best teams in its history, with three DreamHack wins, a 1st place in the HoN World Cup and and array of various other tournament achievements. They were also voted as the best team for 2011 in our recent GosuGamers HoN Awards.

The Fnatic HoN team will play out their remaining tournaments and it is stated by Jascha “NoVa” Markuse below that the team will "keep playing Heroes of Newerth tournaments whenever it fits the schedule but reduce our training to a maximum of one day per week." Kai "H4nn1" Hanbuckers has also stated that he will not be making the switch with the team.

Statements:

Jascha “NoVa” Markuse:

Everyone knew that sooner or later we had to make a decision regarding a possible switch to a more competitive game such as Dota 2. With the current Fnatic Dota 2 team being released it was only natural for us to get into the act and take the next step in our professional gaming career. We will keep playing Heroes of Newerth tournaments whenever it fits the schedule but reduce our training to a maximum of one day per week.

Ultimately we're just very excited to become a part of that and prove ourselves in this game. Dota 2, here we come!

Danijel "StreeT" Remus:

This decision is certainly one of the most, if not the most, important in the gaming careers of every player on the team and is strongly supported by the management. We are happy to continue the cooperation with the team and once again enter the Dota 2 scene after a short break. It is going to take a while for the team to adapt even though the games are similar, but yet so diffierent in many aspects. Even with Dota 2 being in closed beta, the community is getting big, more and more players daily, decent amount of tournaments with really good competition and we want to be part of it. The team will look to repeat success from Heroes of Newerth where they have been dominant for almost two years, winning many major tournaments. It's important to mention that the team will still compete in HoN tournaments like ESL Major Series which is currently in the group stage. Big thanks goes to our sponsors RaidCall, MSI, SteelSeries, Eizo and Gunnar Optiks.
