HGC listens to community feedback, fast-forwards to Genji Patch

This weekend's HGC matches will be a lot more similar to your own gameplay experiences.

The Heroes of the Storm developers have done an amazing job over the past months, keeping the game ever-evolving with regular additions, tweaks and even hero reworks. In a sense, you are playing a different (meta) game every few weeks. This is great for us casual players, as it keeps the game from becoming stale, but it is something of an issue for those who make their money playing this game at the highest levels.

The Heroes Global Championship has been a patch or two behind the live version of most of the season. This is done so that players don't have to practice a whole new version every week, and it has also helped increase the depth in the meta through refinement of strategies. But recently the community, and some pro players, has been complaining about the fact that the pro and casual scene seem out of sync.

Well, Blizzard has considered this and have announced the following for this coming weekend:

So while Genji still isn't allowed, and Hanamura isn't in the map pool either, we did gain a lot in terms of smaller tweaks here and there that should be visible in the games to come. Now that the pro players will be competing on the latest patch, expect a few Cassias, a lot more Uthers, maybe some Auriel Resurrects, and even less Valeera.

We hope the HGC will keep pushing the balance between staying up to date and giving the pro players the time they need to keep their quality play up.
