After the conclusion of the last matches for the third, and final, qualifier for the first NA Fall Regional, ESL announced Astral Authority would be disqualified for using a bug in Tyrael's 'Even in Death' talent.
The latest Heroes bug to Tyraels "Even in Death" talent at level one is the center of controversy after the final NA Fall Qualifier. Even in Death allows you to cast spells while in Passive form, however the spells do no damage. If an ability, like Smite (E) is cast there is a delay between the cast and animation/damage.
If it is timed perfectly, Smite can be cast after death before exploding, which causes Even in Death to no longer apply, and the Smite damage + exploding damage applies to surrounding enemy heroes.
Essentially, if you use an ability timed out after death before exploding, it will deal almost double the damage to surrounding enemy heroes.
The bug was first brought to the public light after a reddit post was made during the qualifiers pointing out "Astral Authority abusing Tyrael 'Even in Death' bug RIGHT NOW".
Hours after the semi-finals deciding the two teams that would be advancing to Burbank, Chu8 My Hot Doge and Imported Support both submitted complaints to ESL about their matches with Astral Authority. After deliberation with Blizzard, ESL announced Astral Authority would be disqualified from the Burbank Regional due to breaking ESL Rule 1.10 and 5.6.
Rule 1.10 Disqualifcation reads [in part]:
” ESL reserves the right to disqualify teams. This will only be done in cases where a team purposefully stalls or attempts to block another team. In some scenarios both teams may be affected.
Any team found to be using a known exploit will forfeit their game upon the first occurrence of the exploit. If the team is found to use another known exploit for a second time and it is determined to have been done on purpose, they will be removed from the event and barred from any future events. ”
Rule 5.6 Illegal Actions reads:
”Any actions that result in an unfair advantage are illegal. This includes bug abuse of any kind. ”
While neither Tyrael, nor the "Even in Death" talent is banned from this qualifier, the recent Korean Power League, or the first European Fall Regional, ESL holds strong with their ruling and will hold a decider match between Imported Suppoer and Chu8 My Hot Doge to decide the final team to advance alongside TNC.
