The Tempest championship mount is coming to the in-game store next patch and a portion of each purchase goes directly to the team.
MVP Black had their time in the sun and now it is time for Tempest. With every purchase of this $4.99 mount, a portion of the sale goes directly to Tempest. Blizzard has stated that they would continue to reward Championship teams in this way if it proved an effective measure and since we are seeing it again, I can only conclude that MVP Black mount sales went well.
It's important to support these type of endeavors, as it isn't common for a developer to directly support an eSports organization outside of the initial prize pool awarded in a tournament. In fact, this initiative by Blizzard to give an eSports organization a portion of an in-game purchase is the first of its kind -- it's the beginning of potentially more incentives using in-game transactions.
