Rick Fox talks more details about signing Heroes team to Echo Fox

Echo Fox owner and former NBA star Rick Fox seems to be inching closer and closer to adding a Heroes of the Storm team to his franchise.

In multiple interviews earlier this year, Rick Fox has already been hinting at adding a CS:GO, Overwatch and DOTA 2 team to Echo Fox, his  fairly successful League of Legends team. Despite recent visa issues, they currently sit at seventh place in the GosuGamers Rankings and, for a new organization can be seen as a success.

Right around the time Heroes of the Dorm was announced, Fox casually (and playfully) tweeted he was going to start a University of North Carolina team (his alma mater) and sign them to Echo Fox.

In a recent interview with the team owner by Daily Dot at SXSW, he confirmed he’s getting closer to signing a Heroes team.
He describes hiring a friend that has found a team that has “I think, the second best player and three females. We need a fifth to round out. We’re literally thinking of having tryouts to complete that.”

Speculations now are going round and round not only as to who the “three female” players are, but who the “second best player” is? And how is it they came across the judgment of that classification. Most of the North American community will agree that the best players in the region are already solidly signed to teams, and there are very few un-signed teams that are “diamonds in the rough” in the current state of the region.

There’s always the possibility that it might very well NOT be a North American team, or have North American players. If Fox plans on basing the team out of North America with players from other regions, he will have to adhere to the strict region locking rules Blizzard has set.

However, a recent interview with Blizzard's Senior esports manager, Kim Phan at the European Spring Regionals has  shed some light on the region locking rules, especially due to recent events with (now disbanded) Stellar Lotus’ player, Wiz, who lives in Korea but plays on the North American server.

While we don’t know too much else about the Echo Fox Heroes team YET, there is still time for the organization to get a team together before Summer Season starts in May.
