If you’re still coming down from the high of all the recent Spring Regionals, don’t worry.
The group stages for the Enter the Storm North American Cup #2 have been released!
This time with Cup #2 the prize pool has been doubled and so has the action! Xul will be allowed, which will give us a first look at his viability in competive play.
Two teams from each group stage will advance to the playoffs March 18-20th.
The two teams that will be representing North America at the Spring Championship in Seoul are in two of the top seeded groups.
Naventic (formerly Bob Ross Fan Club) was able to skip qualifiers and go directly to group stages due to being the champions of Cup #1.
Cloud9 is in the second seeded group only because they did not participate in as many qualifiers as the teams above them.
Blaze enters the top of Group B as the leaders in the point standing. They made a very strong and surprising showing at NA Regionals, especially with having a substitute for one of their players. However, after Regionals they announced the release of two of their players. No word yet on their replacements, this could be a tryout for some possible new team members.
Gust or Bust (formerly King of Blades: Alpha) was probably the most talked about “underdog” at North American Regionals, actually dropping Panda Global 2-1 and even taking one game on Tempo Storm. Tomster was talked about regularly as one of the most promising and up and coming players in the scene.
Because of Resurgence & Afro Doge's disbanding, 2ARC & Pandal Global not having full rosters, THC Black and White combining rosters, the group stages will have a total of 13 teams including Newb Fail’Em, whom originally did not qualify.
Group and playoff game times will be as follows:
Group A- Friday, March 11, 12PM PST
Group B- Saturday, March 12, 10AM PST
Group C- Sunday, March 13, 10AM PST
Group D- Monday, March 14, 5PM PST
Playoffs Day 1- Friday, March 18 12PM PST
Playoffs Day 2- Saturday, March 19 10AM PST
Playoffs Day 3- Sunday, March 20 10AM PST
