Towers of Doom will get added to the map rotation today UPDATE: Map is now live

We were all a bit surprised when Towers of the Doom, the new map revealed at BlizzCon, was not added during the Cho'Gall patch. But we now know that we will be getting the map today.

When Cho'Gall was released about a week ago, the exciting new hero that requires two players to control, Haunted Mines was removed from the map rotation in Quickmatch and Ranked. This was done in preparation for the release of Towers of Doom, because Blizzard feels there should not be 10 maps in rotation at any given time.

Well, today Blizzard announced that after a week of having access to only 8 maps, Towers of Doom will soon be taking up the 9th spot.

Just like Cho'Gall is a very unique, new approach to hero design, Towers of Doom also tried to take a new approach. This map will be the first battlefield in Heroes of the Storm where players can't actually attack the opponent's core themselves. Instead, through focusing on the map's objective, you will be able to win the game by periodically firing shots at the enemy's core which deal unrepairable damage. More information on the new map can be found here.
