Heroes Hype HTC Heroes Brawl's second week starts today

Heroes Hype's newest professional tournament continues, with over $6,000 in cash and prizes on the line. This is the top Americas teams' last chance to face off before the Heroes World Championship at Blizzcon.

If there's one thing we learned from the Americas and Europe Championships, it's that teams are vastly improving at an aggressive rate. With multiple upsets in both weekends, it's hard to pinpoint accurate rankings on these teams. This is the last chance for the Americas teams to prove that they have the stuff to be legendary - and just from the first week of HTC Brawl matches, it's been a great showing.

A Recap of Last Week

The HTC Heroes Brawl pits eight NA teams against each other in a round robin group stage. The eight teams include region juggernauts Tempo Storm, COGnitive, compLexity, and Cloud 9, as well as underdogs Murloc Geniuses, Panda Global, Team Blaze, and Kappa Wolves. For full details on the tournament schedule, check out Heroes Hype's official description on the event.

Last week's matches faced off Tempo Storm and Panda Global, Murloc Geniuses and COGnitive, Cloud 9 and Kappa Wolves, and compLexity and Team Blaze. While most suspected the elite 4 teams to take each of their matches, the underdogs proved that they have what it takes to really shine in the region. Murloc Geniuses managed to 2-0 COG, showing the power of their melee assassins in the form of Illidan and Kerrigan. Team Blaze was able to 2-1 compLexity. Both Panda Global and Kappa Wolves took a game off their competitors (Tempo Storm and Cloud 9 respectively). The tournament has been very close so far. What upsets will we see going forward?

Onto today's matches!

Today's matches include:

  • Tempo Storm vs. COGnitive
  • Murloc Geniuses vs. Panda Global
  • Cloud 9 vs. Team Blaze
  • compLexity vs. Kappa Wolves

After last week's upsets, it seems like none of these matches are set in stone. It will be very interesting to see how all the teams will come into today's matches. Will the team comps be a little safer, emulating the tried-and-true strategies of the past? Or will we see some experimenting with odd team compositions in preparation for Blizzcon? Either way, make sure not to miss out. You can watch the matches live on HTC's official twitch page.
