MVP Black advances to Hot6 Superleague finals by crushing Snake

MVP Black defeated Snake in the best of five semifinals featuring the rising bruiser-centric meta to advance to the first Hot6 Superleague finals.

The Hot6 Superleague continued into the playoffs with MVP Black vs. Snake. Both teams have looked comfortable in the meta change of late due to recent hero releases and patches, which favors heavy front-lines, often featuring double tank and bruiser with a sustain oriented healer and main damage dealer. Throughout the games, MVP seemed to put Snake on tilt through some cheeky plays, especially Sake's level 1 juke and escape in game 2. MVP chose Sonya in every game, under the control of Lockdown, whose mastery on the hero perfectly matches the high intensity frontline the team loves. With this, they retain their hold on the first place position in the GosuGamers tier list and progress to the first Hot6 Superleague finals for Heroes of the Storm ever.

Game to Watch: 1

Game 1 featured both teams on the Infernal Shrines for the first time, with MVP Black choosing the map. Oreoman was gifted Zeratul for the first time ever in Superleague even though he is known for extreme potency on the hero. However, MVP Black was given their ideal team of recent, featuring Sonya and Kharazim. MVP Merryday has been using Kharazim nearly every game in the recent weeks and in combine with a high damage front line, created a high initial burst team that Snake had trouble surviving against.

The hope of Snake was for Oreoman to use Void Prison to take control of fight orchestration, however amazing Tyrael sanctifications prevented the burst of Snake during the Void Prison duration. Brightwing as a support choice was effective in objective control and retaining levels for Snake, however was unable, even with the support of Abathur, to prevent the onslaught MVP Black's team provided. MVP's Sake, their main damage dealer, chose Tychus and had great effectiveness during objective phases around the shrines. Sake was also able to avoid the Abathur and Zeratul combination that repeatedly tried to kill him in Odin and led his team in damage to take the win.

Looking forward:

In the upcoming week on September 22, 12:00 CEST the lower bracket will continue with MRR vs. Team DK to determine who will advance against Snake in the group finals. The winner of which will face MVP Black in the finals. Team DK showed dominance against MRR in their match in late August, except when MRR was allowed to use their well known strategies featuring bruisers. MRR also took 2 games off of MVP Black last week in the opening of the Superleague playoffs and looks extremely strong in the current meta relative to DK.
