A game that was officially released only three months ago, Heroes of the Storm has already gotten used to the praise. Gamers around the globe seem to be enjoying this new take on the MOBA genre and that did not go unnoticed. This year we will be able to vote for Heroes of the Storm in the Golden Joystick Awards.
The first nomination is in the category of "Best multiplayer game of the year". Having some tough competition to beat in the face of Mortal Kombat X and GTA: Online, Heroes will need all the support it can get to actually snatch an award in this category. However being the innovation it is, with all its refreshing features and the ability to play the heroes we all grew up with, an award would not be surprising.
The second nomination comes in "Best PC game of the year". Looking at the nominees, Heroes should be a favourite along with GTA 5. Both games are very different, but again we can count on the generations that grew up on Azeroth, wandered around Sanctuary and spent a lot of time in the world of the Terran, Zerg and Protoss.
Blizzard also got nominated for "Best Studio". Always holding a high standard, they keep producing quality content and their games are being played even decades after release. Classics like the Warcraft and Starcraft series revolutionized the RTS genre and lead to the development of highly competitive esports, with tournaments on Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne and StarCraft: Broodwar still being held. Their new games also do not dissapoint, with the success of StarCraft 2 and its expansions, Hearthstone which won the hearts of many collectible card game fans, Heroes of the Storm which absolutely blew the average MOBA player's mind and Overwatch which is one of the most anticipated games at this moment.
