Na'Vi and Fnatic advance to the upper bracket in EU World Cyber Arena qualifier

WCA coverage hub

The first  LAN matches at Gamescom ended in some surprisingly one sided matches. Na'vi and Fnatic are strong Heroes team, but few expected Team Liquid to lose to them as convincingly as they did. Smart drafting and strong double warrior player from Fantic put Team Liquid on the defensive in both matches, and the Na'Vi matches weren't any easier.

Despite having access to drafts that, historically, have given Team Liquid a huge edge (like Vortix playing The Lost Vikings on Garden of Terror or Blackscorp on Illidan with Rehgar support), Na'Vi used Kerrigan, Kael'thas, and even Li Li in one game to great effect. The Li Li choice was particularly inspired, as they predicted a long match on Garden of Terror- the perfect environment for Li Li and her huge level 20 power spike in the form of Kung Fu Hustle.

Team ALTERNATE Fancy had an equally bad start, and their problem was with one hero: Kael'Thas. In all 4 games they played against Fnatic and Na'Vi, they lost to Kael'thas and his brutal AoE damage. Why the hero wasn't banned in any of their games is surprising, but they still have the chance to learn from the mistakes and perform well in the lower bracket.

Day 2 of the Lan playoffs are happening tomorrow, and will be broadcasted on this twitch channel. Past broadcast for todays games can be found here.
