Na'Vi wins Europe Open #1

Na'Vi had an amazing performance and won the Europe Open #1 coming from the loser bracket today. Having gone through Team Liqud in the ro64, Na'Vi establish themselves as a contender for the first spot in Europe. The other two teams which qualify with them for the European championship are Roccat and Virtus Pro.

Na'Vi vs Gamers2

The day strated off a little slow for Na'Vi, having a rather competitive series against Gamers2. In the first game, Na'Vi was challeneged by Nicker on Abathur and Baczekk on the Lost vikings. Their response was a two tank - two healer composition with AlexTheProg on Leoric, Ethernal on Muradin, Schwimpi on Tyrande and Splendour on his Uther. The map was Cursed Hollow and it promised to be a show. This resulted in a 25 minute up and forth clash between the two teams finishing with Na'Vi taking the victory on the back of the Boss.

The next game was on Dragon Shire and we got to actually see a Nova pick on behalf of JayToy. The game went well for Na'Vi as they controlled it up to minute 16 where after a disastrous fight they lost the initiative. As a result the next few minutes featured up and forth engaging and disengaging, but ended up with Na'Vi ultimately falling and having to play a third game to proceed.

The third game ended up being on Tomb of the Spider Queen, which after today, can be considered Na'Vi's home map. Once again Na'Vi had control of the game, but this time they did not lose it and patiently finished in 21 minutes on the back of a poke Kael'Thas by JayToy and a mean Zeratul by Ethernal. With that win Na'Vi proceeded to the next round to meet Fnatic and their former comrades Wubby and Breez.

Na'Vi vs Fnatic

This series is where Na'Vi showcased their power. Fnatic seemed to have taken a strong draft with Lowell on Butcher, Breez on Arthas, Mene on Uther, Wubby on Tyrande and Kessil on Jaina. Na'Vi's response was  a Tyrael with sanctification by Schwimpi to negate the dive potential, AlexTheProG on Johanna, JayToy on Kael'Thas, Ethernal on Zeratul and Splendour on Malfurion. Playing an amazing game against Fnatic on Tomb of the Spider Queen, Na'Vi won teamfights and controlled the gems and the Boss to ultimately win in a convincing fashion.

As a second game, it was Fnatic's choice to go on the Haunted Mines. Betting on an Illidan + Abathur combo with Lowell on Illidan and Kessil on Abathur, they did not manage to play it out well as they lost 86 skulls in the first mines and all 100 in the second to ultimately lose in around 10 minutes. Tyrael's Sanctification on Na'Vi's side once again dediced fights in their favor and won them the series 2:0 and secured a spot at the European Championship.

Na'Vi vs Virtus Pro

The last obstacle before the Grand Final was Virtus Pro, the team that sent Na'Vi into the losers bracket with a sneaky backdoor. The first map was once again Tomb of the Spider Queen and once again Na'Vi held their grip and won it close to the 20th minute mark deeming Bkbgrnjefek's ETC pick to not have been strong enough to take them down in their own home.

The second game was at the Cursed Hollow and Virtus Pro went on with an ambitios Illidan by Kunichan and Abathur by Androidp. Na'Vi already stomped this combo in their last series and with the help of AlexTheProg's Muradin, they finished the game in around 15 minutes to proceed to the Grand final in which they had to face Roccat.

Na'Vi vs Roccat - a double bo3 madness

The Grand final started off with a Battlefield of Eternity game. Schwimpi went on one of his rare Abathur picks and Ethernal tried to keep his good Zeratul games going, but Roccat controlled the game well and managed to take it on the back of their double tank composition featuring Sportbilly on Anub'arak and Socke on Tyrael.

The second game was on Na'Vi's already established home, Tomb of the Spider Queen. The team fell behind early, but managed to catch Roccat while taking Boss, wipe them and take the Boss in their own turn. This turned the tides and eventually Na'Vi made their way towards the victory.

The third game was on Cursed Hollow, a map Roccat feels comfortable on, but after amazing Zeratul play by Ethernal, Na'Vi snowballed their early lead into a late game lead. This all lead to a Boss fight in which Roccat stole Boss, but got wiped and ultimately lost the game. With the series being 2:1 in Na'Vi's favour, this forced another bo3 to decide who will be the winner of this Grand Final.

The next bo3 series started with Tomb of the Spider Queen and once again, Na'Vi wiped the floor with the enemy intruders. By getting Johanna and the Muradin, as well as Malfurion in the draft, Na'Vi forced Roccat to pick Reghar, which did not work out for them. With their usual dominance on this map Na'Vi mostly controlled the tempo of the game, with some brief moments during which the game seemed even. As we approached late game, Na'Vi forced a lead and in the end patiently waited to finish the game. After yet again catching out Sportbilly, Na'Vi decided this is the moment and finished the game. This put them one game away from claiming the first spot.

The next map was chosen by Roccat and it was expected - the Battlefield of Eternity. In hope to get a new success on it, Roccat went for it again, but it did not bring the expected results. Picking Hammer, played by Cris was innovative, but Na'Vi's answer with Schwimpi on Nazeebo and JayToy on Kael'Thas was just too good. After a few back and forth fights, Roccat tried a risky engage with Na'Vi having the Immortal on their side, but it backfired terrible with Sportbilly getting caught out on Anub'arak. Na'Vi continued pushing, wiped the Roccat team and crowned themselves as winners.
