Tempo Storm has proven they are the new champions of NA after beating C9 Maelstrom 2-1.
If anything has been shown from the NA Open June, it's that change is coming. Sonya picks, mule carries, and Abathur bans were just a few of the signs that the NA scene is turning on its head. With that change, a new team takes the North American crown. After a hard fought best of three, Tempo Storm came out on top, only losing one game the entire tournament.
After being defeated in game #1, Tempo Storm dug their feet in, determined not to lose their upper bracket advantage. They held fast against the aggressive Zeratul, Tyrael and Falstad picks in game #2, using Azmodan and Johanna to great effect. It wasn't until game #3, however, that Tempo Storm truly hit their stride. Without giving a single death, Tempo Storm built an early game advantage and played Blackheart's Bay like a fiddle, gathering coins and applying pressure where there was no resistance. Three levels down, C9 Maelstrom had to make a move on them, or be destroyed by a barrage of unstoppable cannon balls. As with most unmatched fights, it ended with their defeat, as Tempo Storm pushed through to destroy their core.
Congratulations to Tempo Storm, the first team qualify for the Americas Regional championship.
