WCA releases Heroes tournament details

Today World Cyber Arena (WCA) announced their Heroes of the Storm tournament details.

The tournament will be BO3, single elimination and feature eight invited teams. The teams will compete with the two finalists invited to the LAN finals and a ticket to PAX Prime. The tournament bracket will run from May 11th to the 13th with the LAN finals from June 1st to the 3rd. The finals will be live at ESL's studios in Burbank, CA.

In terms of the invited teams, the tournament will feature the top four ranked teams in GosuGamer's North America rankings. The prohibitive favorites are Cloud 9 Maelstrom and Tempo Storm (#1 and #2 respectively). However there are several interesting teams that can spring an upset. Confirmed by sources to GosuGamers, Zeveron is the new team merged between Evil Geniuses and Murloc Inc. From a competition standpoint it makes sense. EG has been a middle tier team in the ESL Major League and it makes sense to change up their lineup by merging with Murloc Inc.

Lotus Stellar will also be making their major tournament debut since being acquired by Jesse Cox (formerly ESV Wildfire) and Shots and the Bullets: Reloaded have something to prove in the competitive scene.

The tournament prize pool is $19,000 (see breakdown below) and ESL casters "SolidJake" and "Cooby" will be streaming the games on Twitch.

In addition, an open bracket for non-invite teams will happen in June 28th (qualification begins June 1st). Details on the open bracket haven't fully been announced yet.
