ESV Champions League - Week 1 Recap

The first week of the ESV Champions League, comprising two playdays of 6 matches each, has ended with Team Snowflake and Team Symbiote taking the pole positions in Groups A and B respectively. Both are leading their groups with a strong showing with 3 wins and 0 losses.

Group A looks to be a tight competition for second place for now, since all the other three teams are tied with 1 win each. Team Snowflake, boasting Idra and LzGamer amongst its ranks, surged to victories over all their opponents, and looks strongest heading into the second week of gameplay.

Meanwhile, in Group B, the group already looks as though it has stabilized into a hierarchy, with Symbiote triumphant over all the others, followed by ESV.Tempest with the single loss to Symbiote. Excelsior has been unable to win any matches, and Clairvoyant Gaming's sole win was over the winless team.

The ESV Champions League is organized by ESV's Diamond, which focuses on the top eight North American teams in the currently still-in-Alpha game. After a quadruple round robin group stage of best of 1s, the top two teams from each group will enter an elimination bracket to determine the eventual champion. This is the first tournament marking Heroes of the Storm's foray into eSports proper, and will definitely set the meta moving forward into more competitive play.
