Honor receiving changes in 1.12!

[s]wow[/s]

There are some signinficant changes upcoming to the honor system that is currently in WoW. While we all know that cross-realm battlegrounds will (hopefully) reduce queue times on some of the more alliance heavy servers, there are some additional changes coming to the honor system.

Blizzard is changing the cutoff for recieving honor for kills, from five kills (where you would recieve no further honor for each additional kill) to 10% less honor after your first kill on that player. Also confirmed was that there is going to be some more room in each rank, so there will be more people in the different ranks. This was all confirmed this afternoon by Blizzard Community Manager, Nethaera.

Honor kills will have a reduced penalty so that it will have diminishing returns at 10% a kill. This basically means you will be able to kill the same person more before you will receive no honor at all.

The honor curve itself will be adjusted to allow more people into the ranks. No, we aren't releasing exactly what the numbers are, sorry.

Yes, we realise that people wanted more significant changes with this patch in regard to the honor system itself but those changes are planned to be released at the same time as the Burning Crusade expansion pack. (Please note that when we say 'at the same time' it means that the changes that affect the core game will be accessible by every subscriber.) We have been stating that the changes will be 'significant' however we do not have any further details at this time. We will have more information later on.

Please don't forget that 1.12 will also have Cross-Realm Battlegrounds, the Outdoor PvP events and the rogue talent changes to look forward to.

Hopefully this is a step in the right direction for Blizzard in fixing and improving the PvP honor system that is currently in World of WarCraft.
