DreamHack StarCraft Tourney

[s]event_70[/s]

The biggest LAN in the world, some of the best players in the world and a StarCraft tournament. Sounds so nice it's hard to believe. It's been a long day with a long tournament and we're still not done. The Grand Final will be played tomorrow around midnight.

As every DreamHack there were several big Swedish names in the tournament, such as Sweden KaaZ, TreK and DaZe. However some foreign StarCraft players also found their way here. The biggest name without a doubt was Poland mYm.Draco, the favorite to win the StarCraft tournament.

The tour

The big names had few problems making their way through the brackets except for some waiting and delays. Then in the quarterfinal it was time for what many perhaps expected to be the final. Poland mYm.Draco clashes with Sweden fanatiC.KaaZ. The polish players showed why he was the favorite for the win and made short work of KaaZ before doing the same to Sweden DaZe and just like that he was in the winners bracket final.

The surprise

1e582bc2eb21fa345f69f2b261d85aeb8ca5b4f9e04a8e2bb9ddd18213As in most LANs around Europe, or so it seems at least, the Czechs were strongly represented. Czech Republic CDS)Crow is perhaps not the most known player in Europe and his fame is certainly nowhere near so of the others. Despite that he clawed his way to the semi-final and then beat Sweden TreK to find himself in the winners bracket final. However the Polish Protoss player mYm.Draco was too much for the Czech. Now he has to face off with Sweden ToT)DaZe( (picture) in a best of three losers bracket final.

Prizes and final

The prizes for the StarCraft tournament at this edition of DreamHack is 9000 SEK for first place, 5000 SEK for the runner-up with third place goes home with 2000 SEK. The Grandfinal will be played on the 19th at around midnight, if there are no delays. Of course it will be broadcast on the bigscreen here at DreamHack, but hopefully there will also be a shoutcast for all the people not here.
