MVP Black Team Captain Sake: "against Team Liquid, we hadn't practiced at all"

MSI MGA 2015 Coverage hub

On the main stage, Cloud9 and Tempo Storm were fighting for a chance to play MVP Black in the grand finals. The crowd was loud and both teams were playing at their best. In the corner, in a quiet area behind the stage, Sake of MVP Black sat quietly talking with his translator in Korean.

I'll never know what they were speaking about, but I took the opportunity to sit down and ask him a few questions while things were calm. Surprisingly, the rest of his teammates were't studying the match going on. They were shopping around PAX for souvenirs

Can you introduce your self to our readers?

I am team captain MVP black, 24 years old, and my in game name is Sake.

As the Team Captain of MVP Black, are you also the shotcaller?

I don't really shotcall the most. Instead, I focus on the teams mental stability and focus. When we are in a team fight, I make sure everyone is focused and knows what they need to do before hand.

How did you prepare for this event?

We weren’t really focusing on MGA because we are currently playing in the Korean super league. However, our training for super league ended up being useful today, as we were able to put those lessons into use.

Who do you think will be the biggest challenge for from this tournament?

We think Tempo Storm is going to be the hardest and we want to want to play them the most.

What was going on in your head against when you defeated Team Liquid?

If we had a better draft during the first game, it would have been much easier

So Team Liquid was an easy win?

In a way, yes. The first game seemed very western so we had a difficult time playing against that.  But games two and three were more how Korean Heroes is played, so it was easy. We were able to apply all of our skills and training.

What are the strongest heroes right now?

Zeratul and Leoric are the strongest heroes right now. They are really good in lane and they adapt well with any team composition. They always help out during a team fight, regardless of the scenario.

If you have to play Cloud9, will it be easy?

It might not be a 3-0 win. Maybe 3-1. In preparation for our match against Team Liquid, we hadn't practiced at all yesterday and as a result, we made a lot of mistakes in the first game. But that loss, it made us wake up and get focused. Now, I think we will do very well against anyone.

Who are you biggest competitors back in Korea?

Team Snake and DK.

Why?

We are all Koreans so everyone has really good mechanics and really good strategies. It’s much harder in Korea because every individual player generally really good.

Any words to your western fans?

This is the first real international tournament and I'm glad we are able to show that Korean is very strong. I know that there is a lot of interest in the NA and EU and we want those people to be interested in Korea.
