In the past several days we saw one of the longest qualifiers for an offline tournament, and the Viagame House Cup #3 has now five qualified players!
For their second opus Viagame made the qualifiers a best-of five single elimination bracket but they decided to change it for the third. A 512 player best-of five swiss bracket with nine rounds, the top 16 advancing to the second part of the qualifiers with a double elimination bracket where the top 3 are rewarded with a trip to Romania.
The swiss round on Saturday did not start well. The official start was planned for 12:00 CEST but connection issues on the European server forced the admins to delay it to 15:00 CEST. All rounds lasted roughly an hour and a half, making it impossible to do all nine rounds without finishing very late. When midnight rang, the sixth round was just concluding and admins made the decision to play the seventh and delay the 8th and 9th rounds to Sunday 12:00 CEST.
Eventually, this became the top 16 cut-off:

The double elimination brackets were created shortly after the swiss ended and the second part of the first qualifier started right away.
For the known players upsets started on the first round with favorites Erik "Inderen" Kristenssen, Nuno "Ignite" Pinho and Apostolos "Hawkeye" Karaiskos being out of the winners bracket immediately. Michael "Maverick" Looze and Dima "Rdu" Radu followed after the second round. Two rounds later the first two qualified named Froggy and Crane333 were crowned.
On loser bracket Hawkeye took out Inderen in the first round but lost right away in the second to Mbpro. The second round was also the final end of Maverick and Rdu. Ignite was defeated by the french player Kalàxz who managed to take later the third qualifying spot by beating Ikealyou 3-2 on round 5.
