Group B began with a Protoss triumph as both HerO and Naniwa won their opening matches. The Korean blanked qxc expectedly easy but for Naniwa it was a bit harder fight. Dropping game on Yeonsu, the Swede had to engineer a comeback by tying it on Bel'Shir Vestige and, finally, defending Hack's 2-base bio/SCV pull rush to qualify for the winners match of the group.

This placed Naniwa against HerO, an opponent who's never managed to beat in the past. Two games later, their IEM New York face-off was brought to an end once again in HerO's favor who put his overall record against Alliance's Protoss to 6-0. Naniwa nevertheless earns the right to compete tomorrow as well, as he's to face Hack in a rematch from their opening game.
