Heroic Brawl might not launch before Blizzcon as initially promised

Hearthstone’s innovative mode might be delayed until after the Blizzard convention, happening November 4-5.According to Hearthstone senior developer Ben Brode, it could be another at least two weeks before the competitive Brawl mode called “Heroic Brawl” is launched. Heroic Brawl was supposed to be up this or the next week, preceding Blizzard’s yearly convention Blizzcon, but it seems that won’t be the case.

The Heroic Brawl will offer Hearthstone players a chance to pay a real money or gold entry fee and win as many games as they can with a set constructed deck, with a win cap of 12. The rewards are progressive with the number of wins and at the 12-win mark there wait 50 Old Gods packs, three golden legendaries and a heap of gold and dust.

The mode received a lot of criticism from the wider community, with complaints about the steep entry tax of $9,99 or 1000 gold and was seen by many as a “cash grab” move by Hearthstone’s developer, Blizzard Entertainment. Others, including the author of this article, argued for the launch of Heroic Brawl as an opportunity to test a feature Hearthstone’s has been lacking but direly needed for a long time: Tournament Mode.
