Radu “Rdu” Dima took another series for Europe, trumping Tempo Storm’s Haiyun “Eloise” Tang on Saturday.
Five games into his series against Eloise, Rdu was on his way to an unmatched record: Go undefeated in a full Bo17 series. An on-point Rogue play had seen the Romanian defeat some of Eloise’s best decks, including her Discardlock and Midrange Shaman and not even Miracle’s soft counters Aggro Hunter and Freeze Mage could stop Rdu’s onslaught.
What eventually did the trick was Eloise’s heavily armored C’Thun Warrior whose three wins got her back into the serie,s but upon losing her last power deck in Malygos Druid to Rdu’s Control Priest, leaving her down to her N’Zoth Paladin, Eloise’s fate in the series was more or less decided.
For Rdu, this is a great start in the $60,000 invitational and his +5 tiebreaker score put him on equal footing with Zhang “ZhangBo” Bo, who 9-4’d Rdu team-mate Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy on Friday to bring China’s first of only two victories on week one. Thus far, the most decisively won series of the tournament belongs to another G2 member, Thijs “ThijsNL” Molendijk, whose Druid and Priest delivered a 9-3 score against T/S’ Andrey “Reynad” Yanyuk on the second day of the tournament.
