China gets on the Celestial Invitational scoreboard as ZhangBo beats Lifecoach (decklists inside)

The Chinese dealt the G2 marquee player a loss in 13 games in yesterday’s broadcast.

Pirate Warrior isn’t really known as a deck which can carry long win streaks, but for Zhang “ZhangBo” Bo, it performed better than expected. A member of team TongFu and repeat Gold Series grand finalists, it was on ZhangBo to bring China its first victory in the Celestial Invitational, after Yuxiang “Breath” Chen lost a 17-game series against Sebastian “Xixo” Bentert on Tuesday.

The series was fairly equal between Adrian "Lifecoach" Koy and ZhangBo until ZhangBo’s Midrange Shaman started doing Shaman things and too four straight wins before the Secret Hunter of Lifecoach gunned it down. With both players lacking their strongest decks now – Shaman and Druid – it was down to the unconventional picks and for the Chinese this was his Pirate Warrior, a very aggressive deck used to rush down slow, combo decks like Miracle and Paladin.

Both of those were part of Lifecoach’s remaining line-up and surely enough the German bended under the pressure as the Pirates won three in a row to close the series at game 13 with 9-4 final score for ZhangBo. At +5 tiebreaker, ZhangBo thus takes the lead in Group A over Xixo, with the last match of his group for the week being between Haiyun “Eloise” Tang and Radu “Rdu” Dima on Saturday, October 22.
