Team NRG pick up Amaz, Archon’s future to be determined

One of Hearthstone’s most prolific streamers has made a surprise move, joining a new organization.

The ranks of Hearthstone organization Team Archon are getting depleted. After losing player after player, including their top star James “Firebat” Kostesich, Archon is now apparently leaderless after owner and founder Jason “Amaz” Chan surprisingly announced he will be switching teams and joining Team NRG.

Originally a part of ROOT Gaming and Team Liquid, Amaz founded his own Team Archon in November 2014, just a week before one of his newly-signed players, Firebat, triumphed at the World Championship. Since then, Archon’s brand has been associated with nurturing the talents of such players like Jon “Orange” Westberg, Sebastian “Xixo” Bentert, Ryan “Purple” Root, William “Amnesiac” Barton and Paul “Zalae” Nemeth, as well as putting up the $250,000 Archon Team League Championship – the most prestigious team league in Hearthstone to date.

Amaz’s departure from his own team poses questions regarding the future of Archon. At the time of going to press, the only remaining competitive player is World Championship finalist Amnesiac. The line-up is a result of Archon’s decision to move away from competitive gaming and more towards streaming activities. According to Amaz, a press release about what is to happen with his organization is on the way, while co-owner Brent “Backspace” Kaskel is expected to be on ChanmanV’s Value Town to explain the situation further.
